Cricket Wireless customers who have a phone number with area codes 787, 340, and 939 (commonly Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands area codes) must change their phone number to a mainland U.S. phone number by April 3, 2024, to continue service with Cricket. No telephone number change fee will be charged.
In late 2020, Cricket sold wireless and wireline operations in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands to Liberty Latin America (LLA). As a result, Cricket will no longer support telephone numbers with area codes in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands after April 3, 2024.
Please note:
- Access to wireless coverage in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands is still included with all Cricket plans at no extra charge. See www.cricketwireless.com/map.html for coverage information.
- If your phone number is part of a multi-line account with a multi-line discount and this line is canceled, not changing your number could affect your discount.
If no action is taken by April 3, 2024, these phone numbers will be canceled on April 4, 2024. Cricket Wireless and AT&T will no longer have access to service these phone numbers.
The affected area codes are 787, 340, and 939.
To continue service with Cricket Wireless, customers with a phone number with an affected area code must change their phone number to a mainland U.S. area code by April 3, 2024.
If you don’t change your phone number before April 3, 2024, your line will be canceled on April 4, 2024, and you will lose your current phone number.
